The aim of the Journal of Teaching & Teacher Education (JTTE) is to expand all types of research (qualitative, quantitative, and action research) in teaching and teacher education through high-quality publications. The journal welcomes papers concerned primarily with teaching and teacher education in general, regardless of grade-level, subject matter, and teacher’s stage of career, with a preference for papers that tackle issues and questions significant to both regional and international communities.

Examples include teachers’ attitudes; teaching effectiveness; analysis of teaching; factors affecting teachers’ performance; teachers’ professional development; teacher-related policies; etc. Contributions from all branches/sub-disciplines of Education are accepted.

JTTE is a scholarly, international, peer-reviewed, and double-blind journal with open access that provides a forum for discussing, analysing, and debating a variety of topics, practices, policies, and research studies in teaching and teacher education.

JTTE’s editorial board has as its primary mission, in the next few years to come, the development of the journal into an eminent international journal in teaching and teacher education. The editorial board’s vision is to see JTTE one of the key scholarly resources in the pool of distinguished journals around the globe.

JTTE provides thorough and profound coverage of distinguished educational research reports involving a variety of teaching and teacher-related disciplinary-fields and educational settings.​

In order to be considered for publication, your introduction should clearly explain the novelty, urgency and originality of the research in your article.

Manuscripts submitted for publication must be in English and should be submitted via the web. There are no page charges for publishing in this journal.

    • ​​​​​The Journal of Teaching & Teacher Education (JTTE) is now welcoming manuscripts for consideration for publication. JTTE is published twice a year (January and July​) and employs a rolling submission process.

    JTTE is a scholarly, international, peer-reviewed, and double-blind journal that provides a forum for discussing, analyzing, and debating a variety of topics, practices, policies, and research studies in teaching and teacher education. Manuscripts concerned primarily with teaching and teacher education in general, regardless of grade-level, subject matter, and teacher’s stage of career, are welcomed. Preference is given to papers that tackle issues and questions significant to both regional and international communities. Accepted areas of investigation include but are not limited to:

    • teachers’ attitudes
    • teaching effectiveness
    • analysis of teaching
    • factors affecting teachers’ performance
    • teachers’ professional development
    • teacher-related policies


    Contributions from all branches/sub-disciplines of Education are accepted.

    Types of Manuscripts


    Research Articles: Research articles that address issues that have a wide appeal and significance to teachers and educators are accepted for submission. A submitted article can be theoretical or empirical in nature, as long as it is well grounded in the related literature and imparts knowledge, methods, and insights pertinent to teaching, learning, and teacher education. A manuscript submitted for review should be approximately 5,000 - 8,000 words long.

    Instructional Articles: Instructional articles that are well-grounded in the relevant literature and that focus on clarifying and explaining innovative teaching, learning, and teacher-training methodologies and practices are accepted for submission. The manuscript of an instructional article should be approximately 3,000- 6,000 words long.

    Review Articles: Review articles that consist of commentaries and evaluations of newly published works (books, articles, etc.) related to teaching, learning, and teacher education are accepted for submission. The manuscript of a review article should be approximately 1,500- 2,000 words.
    Submission Guidelines
    All manuscripts must be in English and must comply with the journal's JTTE template.docx, and fill the attached SPC copyright.pdf ​ after which they can be Submit through "Submission Button"


      The general manuscript structure should include the following components:

    • Title Page: The title page will be the first page of the manuscript file and should include only the manuscript title. It should not include the authors’ names or affiliations or contact information.
    • Abstract: The abstract should be on the second page of the manuscript file and should be no longer than 250 words and should present a description and/or summary of the manuscript.
    • Keywords: Following the abstract, 3-6 keywords should be included that could be used to index the manuscript. The keywords should be separated by semi-colons.
    • Body: The text of the manuscript’s body should be double-spaced and should be a 12-point standard font, preferably Times New Roman. The top and bottom margins should be 1-inch and the left and right should be 1.25 inches. Italicized text may be used as needed but no underlining is accepted. All pages should be numbered and each page number should be displayed in the lower right corner of the page’s footer. Section heads should be bold and are to be used as needed; subsections should be bold and italicized. The use of footnotes and endnotes should be completely avoided.
    • Acknowledgements: Acknowledgements of any kind should be kept brief.
    • References: All citations and references should conform to the guidelines of the latest edition of the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association (APA).
    • Appendices: Any table or figure should be included in an appendix and should be correctly numbered (e.g. Table 1, Table 2, or Figure 1, Figure 2, etc.); it must include a descriptive title.
    • Biographical notes of authors (only for accepted manuscripts): Once a manuscript is accepted, its author will be required to include a short biography of a maximum of 150 words, which includes information like the author’s job title and position, institutional affiliation, teaching responsibilities, research interests, etc.


    Review Process
    When a manuscript is submitted through JTTE’s online system, the author will receive an acknowledgement of receipt. The editors will first briefly review the manuscript for its appropriateness for JTTE and will then forward it to two reviewers to be blindly reviewed. Once the review process is completed, the author will be informed of the status of his/her manuscript, which could be either accepted or in need of revision and resubmission, or rejected. The author will also be provided with substantive feedback depending on the manuscript’s status. .

    ​Copyright Permissions
    Copyright permissions should be obtained by the authors for any copyrighted materials included in the manuscripts. The authors are responsible for providing the JTTE editors with copyright permission letters when appropriate.
    ​Editorial Policy
    ​Any manuscript that has been accepted for publication will be subjected to copyediting and the author will be provided a galley proof to make final corrections to, and to approve, before actual publication of the manuscript takes place. Before publication of a manuscript, the author will be required to assign copyright of the manuscript to JTTE. Any request to republish the accepted and published manuscript should be made to JTTE.



    ​The Journal of Teaching and Teacher Education (JTTE) is seeking the assistance of peer reviewers. Accordingly, JTTE invites any individuals interested in volunteering to serve on its Review Board to apply to do so by sending an email of interest with an attached Curriculum Vitae or Résumé directly to the managing editor (nabdulrazzak@uob.edu.bh​). Responsibilities of and expectations from reviewers are outlined in the “For Reviewers’ section.

    For Reviewers
    General Information ​
    Manuscripts submitted to JTTE undergo a double-blind peer-review process. As a reviewer, you are expected to determine whether or not a submitted manuscript assigned to you is within the scope of JTTE. You are also required to critically evaluate in a fair and balanced manner its scientific quality. The reviews you submit to the authors and to the editors should provide clear and constructive criticism in relation to the parts of the manuscript that need further development and improvement. If changes are to be made to the manuscript, you must explicitly state where each change is to be made by referring to a specific page number, section, and paragraph. You should also mark any sections that are not clearly written; meticulously study tables and figures with their in-text references, headings, and/or legends; make sure that any special symbols or characters used are clearly explained; carefully check that references are cited correctly in the text and that a complete bibliography is provided; and thoroughly check for any irregularities in the manuscript, including possible instances of plagiarism.

    Only a manuscript that is delivered complete and in the format specified by the “Instructions to Authors” is to be accepted for review; otherwise, the author must be instructed to resubmit a revised version of their manuscript. Keep in mind, however, that many authors’ native language is not English and that, as a reviewer, you should take this into consideration during the review process.

    As a reviewer, you are requested to take the time necessary for meticulously reviewing each manuscript, keeping in mind respect for the time authors’ spent preparing their manuscripts. Nevertheless, you are still expected to submit your review to the editors in a timely manner, preferably 2 weeks after receiving the manuscript. Punctuality, therefore, as well as honesty and confidentiality are a must on the part of a JTTE reviewer.

    When completing the review process of a manuscript, you should send your recommendation (either accept, revise, or reject manuscript) directly to the editors along with the marked-up copy of the manuscript. You can also add confidential comments to the editors, if necessary, in addition to the comments you will include for the author. Your comments to the author should address the overall quality of the manuscript, focusing on its scientific and factual aspects as well as on its writing style.

    Points to Consider When Reviewing Manuscripts
    The following are to be considered during a review:
    Whether a manuscript is within JTTE’s scope
    Whether the scientific content of the manuscript is strong
    If the aim of the manuscript has been clearly stated
    How significant the manuscript is
    How original the manuscript is
    If the writing is clear and easily accessible to all readers of JTTE
    If the manuscript is informative and complete in the sense that it includes all required components (e.g. title page, abstract, introduction, manuscript body, conclusions, recommendations, references, acknowledgments etc.)
    If statements made in the manuscript are supported by original or published data
    If published data referred to in the manuscript are cited accurately
    If the tables and figures used in the manuscript are clearly formatted, are accurate, and have headings or legends respectively
    If all the abbreviations and special characters used in the manuscript are clearly explained
