dc.description.abstract |
The wireless sensor network (WSN) research work might be accomplished by collecting data about the channel effect on the overall system performance. This can be done either by implementing the WSN or via simulation. The latter approach is more convenient due to the cost and other practical issues. Nowadays, the WSN can transceive not only a 1-D signal but also a 2-D signal such as images. This paper aims to design a complete MATLAB/SIMULINK model that is able to deal with multimedia signals(1D and 2D signals). The simulation model discusses transmitting/receiving multimedia signals, where different channel parameters have been applied. Two types of signals have been used in this work to test multimedia signal quality. The simulation model is designed to transmit and receive data over low-power transmission media, with different interference and noise levels being tested over the channel, in addition to path losses. The proposed simulation methodology proves its efficiency when it comes to dealing with WSN in general, as it tackles the majority of parameters used by researchers in this field. So that it can mimic the practical WSN environment with the availability of many options for different parameters. These parameters are used to re-design specific environments as required. |
