The main aim of the present study was to explore the impact of reaction
time and some psychological and demographics variables on the occurrence
of road traffc accidents among a sample of motorists in Kuwait. The fnal
sample consisted of (350( motorists from Kuwait. This study used the
following tools: A( Measurements of reaction time. B( The scale of stress
management strategies. C( The scale of psychological security. D( The
scale of self-esteem. The study found that there were signifcant differences
between the experimental group (who caused road traffc accidents) and the
control group (who did not cause road traffc accidents) in the reaction time in
favor of the experimental group. There were signifcant differences between
the two groups in self-esteem, self-confdence, others-confdence and some
of stress management strategies in favor of the control group. There were
signifcant differences between males and females in the rate of road traffc
accidents in favor of males. There were signifcant differences in the rate of
traffc accidents due to the interaction between the social status and the age
level in favor of married couples between the ages of (30-44( years. There
was a positive correlation between rate of traffc accidents and reaction time.
The method of planning was a strong predictor of the rate of traffc accidents
followed by the method of acceptance, and the method of denial and selfesteem. |
