Abstract:
The study aimed at identifying the educational requirements )academic,
technological, economic and social) required for scientifc research units in
emerging universities from the viewpoint of academic staff, and then followed
by the disclosure of the obstacles faced the emerging universities in providing
educational requirements for scientifc research units. The research based
on the descriptive analytical approach, and to achieve the objectives of the
research, a questionnaire was designed, then codifed and applied to a sample
of 82 academic staff at Shaqra University. The results of the study concluded
that, the educational requirements )academic, technological, economic and
social) required for scientifc research units from the viewpoint of the academic
staff were very important, and came in the following order; The academic
requirements, followed by social, then technological, and fnally economic,
and disclosure the existence of obstacles facing emerging universities in
providing the educational requirements for scientifc research units, including:
weak the budget allocated for scientifc research, weak turnout of community
institutions to beneft from the results of scientifc research activities, weak
role media in raising awareness of the role of scientifc research units, weak
cooperation and coordination between scientifc research units inside and
outside the university.
