Abstract:
The current study aimed to test a proposed model for the relationship between support, parenting stress and satisfaction with life among mothers of children with disabilities in Oman. The study sample included 210 mothers of children with different disabilities whose children received care and education services in care and rehabilitation centres in Muscat. The study instruments included the Parenting Stress Inventory-short form )PSI-SF(, the Multi-Dimensional Scale of Perceived Social Support )MSPSS(, Satisfaction with Life Scale )SWLS(. The results of the study showed that there were direct effects of some parenting stress and social support dimensions on the satisfaction with life, some direct effects of parenting stress on social support, and some indirect mediating effects of social support )family support( on the relationship between parenting stress and satisfaction with life in mothers of children with disabilities in Oman.
