dc.description.abstract The study aimed at investigating the effect of a training program based on self-explanation strategy on the ability to solve math and social problems. The sample consisted of )64( tenth grade female students who were randomly assigned into two groups: an experimental group and a control group. To achieve the objectives of the study, the authors developed a training program based on self-explanation strategy in an attempt to improve female students› ability to solve math and social problems. To do so, a math and social ability measure was used. The findings indicated that there were significant differences in the post test in favor of the experimental group. There were also significant differences between the post and delayed tests in favor of the latter, which indicates that the training program was effective in improving female students› ability to solve math and social problems. en_US
