dc.description.abstract This study aimed to identify factors that drive youth in sport centers and gyms for doping. The study also aimed to explore the effect of doping on physical, social, and psychological consequences on these youth. The researchers followed a descriptive approach using a survey. A modified questionnaire developed by Al-Ghafili (2011) was distributed to 520 youth (n= 520) among different sport centers and gyms in the cities of Irbid and Mafraq. The questionnaire consisted of 59 items within the following two domains: a) factors that drive youth for doping and b) the consequences of doping. The Study results showed that the main factors for driving youth to doping are providing them valuable prizes for the sport achievement and gaining good social position. The participants were aware of the physical consequences of doping such as reduction in energy and decrease of physical abilities. Additionally, psychological consequences existed as well, particularly imaginary physical issues. The desire for winning led the participants to high ego seeking for self-interests rather than sport society interests, and negative lifestyle changes. Moreover, older participants with higher academic degree were more aware about risks of doping on the physical and psychological health and social status. The researchers recommend increasing awareness about doping and its potential consequences in addition to ensuring better control of sport centers and gyms. en_US
