Abstract:
This study explores the dialectical relation that marked Al- Mutanabbi’s poetry during
his time while dealing with Abbasid’s authority. It presents first an overview of the
economical, social, and historical background of the setting that the poet found himself
in from the begining of the establishment of the Islamic state till Al-Mutanabbi’s era, in
addition to the huge changes and developments that had obvious influence on the poet’s
position in the Abbasid Era.
Furthermore, the study analyzes the connective patterns which are revealed in Al-
Mutanabbi’s poetry of praise in an attempt to fathom the hidden connotations that
distinguished the complexity of poetic discourse as related to the various forms of
authority at that time.
