Abstract:
Lump sum compensation is one of the financial benefits provided by the Jordanian legislator for the insured covered by the insurance against work injuries, and for the apprentice laborer less than 15 years, in compensation for his/ her loss of physical or mental abilities, partially and permanently, as a result of work accident or occupational disease.
The Jordanian legislator stipulates for the entitlement of the insured in the lump sum compensation that the insured shall be: subject to the Social Security Law, which regulates the rights and obligations of the three concerned: the insured, employers, and the Social Security Corporation (SSC). Also, the insured shall be covered by insurance against injuries. It is also stipulated that work injury shall not be as a result of violations that deprive the insured from such financial benefit.
Therefore, the insured shall, as a result of work injury, be entitled a financial amount protected from deduction or seizure, given to him/ her as a lump sum by the SSC. The amount of compensation commensurate with the severity of the injury and its impact on the insured as well as the resulting permanent partial disability that its percentage does not reach limits of maturity of the disability pension that is (30%).
