Abstract:
This study aimed at recognizing the reasons for the weakness of Holy Quran recitation in the basic stage of education from the point of view of both male and female teachers in Al-Mafraq Governorate. The tool used for data collection was a questionnaire which consisted of five domains: the content of the subject, language, students, environment, parents and teaching methods and the study sample consisted of 49 teachers who teach Islamic education for the basic stage in Al- Mafraq Governorate, Jordan. The findings of the study showed that there was a medium level for the reasons of weakness of Quran recitation in the basic stage from the teachers’ point of view, most notably in the domain of students with a high degree. Meanwhile, the language field came last with a moderate degree and there were statistically significant differences in the reasons of weakness of Quran recitation in the basic stage from the teachers’ point of view, due to gender variable in favor of females. The researcher recommended that it is necessary to be aware of the teaching methods of Holy Quran recitation Course, and, by using modern teaching methods, focus on the practical and theoretical aspects of recitation skills.
