And also to enhance the level of sport performance and the educational ability of the students by decreasing and controlling the causes and sources of stress that might cause negative effects on student. Subjects include all (87) physical education students (M=41, F=46), who were enrolled in the summer semester at Yarmouk University. For data collection, the researcher developed a questionnaire. The questionnaire consisted of two parts. The Personal Information included (gender, age, yearly level of study and type of students) and Source of Stress consisted of (18) items divided into six subscales (load of sport activity, nature of sport activity, method of teaching, evaluating sport performance, conflict of performance role, and future job prospects). To analyze the students’ response to the questionnaire “percentages, analysis of variance, means and standard deviation, T-test and correlation’s were used. The results showed some sources of stress among students according to gender and type of students; on the other hand the results showed no significant differences between students’ level of stress source according to students age or yearly level of study in the university. Finally, the researcher recommends that more studies are needed to discover that relationship between stress and performance. Also seminars are suggested by sport psychologists to help students to be aware of the cause and sources of stress and teach physical education students how to deal with it, and how to control it in a healthy manner, when it happens. |
