dc.description.abstract The goal of the study is to survey supervisors’ and head masters’ opinion toward the social studies teacher’s teaching competencies in public schools in the state of Kuwait. The study also investigates variables like: sex, educational levels and educational districts. The results of the study indicate that social studies teachers master teaching competencies. However, the hypotheses testing show that there are no significant differences among males and females concerning the teaching competencies. In addition, the study indicates that there are significant differences between supervisors and head masters toward teaching competencies in the educational level. In the light of the findings of the study, the researcher recommends certain steps to be taken such as: the importance of teaching competencies in teaching, in-service training to teachers and the development of models of teaching competencies for social studies teacher by the supervisors and head masters. en_US
