Abstract:
This study aimed at revealing the current status of the learning resource centers at girls’ high schools in Riyadh from teacher’s perspective. The sample of the study consisted of 64 female teachers drawn randomly from Riyadh city. A questionnaire composed of 65 items was distributed. Date analysis revealed that learning resource centers serve teachers in many aspects. Among these aspects are: helping teachers in preparing learning materials; assisting teachers in getting training on using equipments and learning materials; and providing opportunities for self-directed learning to teachers. Results also showed that enforced curricula and teaching plans do not induce connecting learning materials with resource centers. A shortage of learning resources and equipments at schools was detected. Obstacles that minimize using learning centers at schools were determined. Suggestions for improving the role of the learning resource center in shoal were presented.
