Abstract:
The purpose of this study was to investigate the features of academic corruption within its causes and remedies as perceived by faculty members in the Northern region colleges of Al-balqa Applied University. The population of the study consisted of (347) faculty members in the academic year 2011/2012. Meanwhile, the sample of the study comprised (83) faculty members chosen randomly. To achieve the aim of this study the researcher developed a questionnaire that consisted of (72) items distributed into three domains, The researcher checked validity and reliability. The findings of the study showed that the economical factors came in the first rank while the social factors came in the last rank within the corruption features in the academic society. Moreover, the findings showed that there were no significant statistical differences at the level of (α = 0.05) about the features and causes of corruption in the academic society attributed to gender, academic rank and experience variables. The study recommended the need of restructuring salaries in Al-balqa Applied University to reduce the features and causes of academic corruption.
