Dietary Habits and the Prevalence of Taking Supplements and Anabolic Steroids Among Participants in Fitness Centers and Building Objects in Jordan

dc.description.abstract The study aimed to identify the characteristics of the physical, social and economic development of individuals using steroids structural, nutritional supplements, the nature of dietary habits, and the prevalence of taking anabolic steroids and supplements. It has a sample of (6565) individuals between the ages (18-60 years), were chosen randomly from the male participants in fitness centers and body building in Jordan, for the period between (10/2010- 4/2013). Respondents wrer asked to identify the particular measure in its entirety general demographic data, and dietary habits daily to them. In addition they were asked about the extent of taking anabolic steroids and supplements and the species they consume, were also measured in terms of height and weight and extract the criteria for classifying a body mass index of the rule to identify the prevalence of obesity and overweight they have. The results indicated the presence of variation and statistical differences function in the variables of physical, demographic, between injecting anabolic steroids and injecting supplements and combine eating articles and not eating. They show a spread of some unhealthy eating habits among them, and that the prevalence of eating anabolic steroids were (19.75%) focus dealt with in the youth category, and that more of those types of steroids, including widespread Testosterone is a hormone, and that the proportion of dietary supplements, including addresses were (29.10%). So the proportion of ingested concentrated in the category of young people, particularly protein supplement. The study researchers recommend the need to work to increase the level of health surveillance and security centers, fitness and body building to reduce selling, promoting and taking anabolic steroids and supplements, in addition the study --- the necessity of concerted efforts of health and education to create a national strategy aimed at the whole year to work on educating youth and adolescents about seriousness of those substances and their negative impact on health. en_US
