Emotional Social Competence among Faculty Members from the Abu Dhabi University in the Light of the Variables: Gender (male / female, Qualification, Specialization, and Experience)

dc.description.abstract The present research aimed to identify the level of Emotional Social Competence among a sample of faculty members who speak Arabic at the University of Abu Dhabi )Abu Dhabi and Al Ain branch(. To achieve the study goals emotional social competence scale which consisted of five subscales (Self Awareness, Self Management, Social Awareness, Relationalship Management and Cognitive Competence( was implemented on 95 faculty members from administrative and humanitarian disciplines, scientific discipline and educational and social discipline. The averages and standard deviation of the responses of the study sample on emotional and social competence scale were calculated. Results revealed that the study sample have high level of self Awareness, self Management, social Awareness, relationalship Management and moderate level of cognitive competence. Results also showed that there were no statistically significant differences at the level )0.05( or less between faculty members on Emotional Competence level due to the variables gender (male/ female), qualification and years of experience. Results have shown that there are differences in statistical significance at the level )0.05( or less in the specialization variable between faculty members from scientific discipline and educational and social disciplines in favor of the faculty members from educational and social disciplines and between faculty members from scientific discipline and administrative and humanitarian disciplines in favor of the faculty members from administrative and humanitarian disciplines. The researchers recommended implementing scientific meetings for faculty members about the cognitive competence and Design study materials for the emotional and social skills taught in colleges and universities. en_US
