Abstract:
This study aimed at exploring the issues related to the other in Islamic Education textbooks in the upper stage of basic education in Jordan. Among the conclusions of the study were :the frequencies of public areas of the image of the other were (1488); the most frequent area was: terms related to the other “amounted to (500), then the area “values of dealing with the other’’ (394), then the area of “dimensions of the image of the other” (265), the area of “symbols and signs related to the other” (217), and the least was the area “Shariah Laws related to the other” (58). Eighth grade textbook got the highest frequency of public areas (536), and the lowest frequency of the 5 public areas was of 7th grade textbook (247). The study recommended the use of the list of analysis applied in the study when planning or writing Islamic textbook, and conducting further studies related to the image of the other.
