Abstract:
The aim of this study was to compare the characteristics of the psychometric of multiple choice test with the complete test items in the light of the Item Response Theory of Measurement. For achieving the purpose of this study, two tests were prepared for the sixth grade in science and both the tests consisted of (30) items (one test is a multiple choice test and the other is complete test items). Calibration of the items for sample of (80) students and the degree of items difficulty (logit degree ) of both the tests were based on Rasche’s model. The study results revealed the necessity of omitting (7) items of the complete test items and omitting (6) items of the multiple choice test. In addition, the results showed that the reliability of the difficulty degree for items and persons in the complete test items were higher than that in the multiple choice test.
