Attitudes of Students towards the Study in the Deanship of the Preparatory Year at Shaqra University and the Effect on their Academic Achievement

dc.description.abstract The current study aims at identifying the study attitudes of the preparatory year students and the effect on their academic achievement of at Shaqra University in the kingdom of Sudia Arabia. The final sample of the study consists of 1046 students (males and females). The study used the measurement of student study trends at the Deanship of the Preparatory Year which has been prepared and scientifically modified by devising a provisional list of the three-tier attitudes measurement including five categories: 1. Administrative issues 2. Course subjects 3. Textbooks 4. Behavioral aspects 5. Services. The study results showed the actual study attitudes for the students of the Preparatory Year Deanship to be as follows: the attitudes towards behavioral aspects were 86%, the attitudes towards course subjects were 81%, the attitudes towards textbooks were 79%, the attitudes towards administrative issues were 75%, and finally the attitudes towards services were 69%. The study also showed that the average grades for male students towards academic study (132) are higher than those of the female students (128.8). In addition, the study showed that the average grades for the medical sciences and pharmacology students towards academic study (143.49) were higher than those for the science and engineering students (124.97). en_US
