Setting Standards to Evaluate the Quality of Methodology of Educational Research

dc.description.abstract The purpose of this study was to develop standards intended to assess the quality of methodology of educational research as well as to construct performance indicators related to each standard. To achieve this goal, the author reviewed the previous educational literature, the main references of educational research and the guidelines for assessing research papers submitted to refereed periodicals, so as to build a background on the criteria used to evaluate research methodology. Based on this understanding, an inventory including five standards was designed to measure the level of quality of research methodology within (25) performance indicators. The developed standards in this study were: Research problem and purpose; Theoretical approach and previous research studies; Procedures; Presentation and discussion of research results; and Suggestions and recommendations. Consequently, the author recommends utilizing these standards for the assessment of educational research articles submitted for publication in academic journals so as to enhance the quality of research in education. en_US
