Healthy Classroom Environment and its Effect on the Children’s Behavior in Kindergarten Schools in Kuwait

Abstract

This study was designed to assess the perception of kindergarten teachers in Kuwait city regarding the effect of a healthy classroom environment on the children’s behavior the factors of a healthy in kindergarten schools in Kuwait. For this purpose, a questionnaire was designed and administered to a sample of 131 female KG teachers in Kuwait City. The questionnaire included 35 sentences divided into two main sections. The first section consisted of 22 sentences related to the healthy environmental factors in the classrooms. The second section consisted of 13 sentences that measure the kindergarten children’s behavior in the classroom. The results of the study illustrated that healthy classroom environmental factors are highly provided in KG schools in Kuwait. Findings indicated that no significant difference was found between the teacher’s opinion from different school areas, (Hawalli and Ahmadi) and from different educational level. In addition, it was found that there was a significant difference in the opinion of KG school teachers about the healthy classroom environment, and the children’s behavior in the classroom; Results showed that healthy classroom environment affected positively kindergarten children behavior in the classroom, which shows that a healthy environment is very important in the children’s schools. In the light of findings, the researchers suggested some recommendations and future studies to be examined.
