Abstract:
This study aimed at determining the training needs for Arab teachers as perceived by teachers and principals at Arab schools in the Green Line. A cluster sample of (380) teachers and (61) principals from all school stages at the Gallile, Triangle, and Negev was chosen. In order to undertake the study, a 41-item questionnaire was designed, and its validity and reliability were secured. The results revealed that a «big» need for planning and leadership skills for teachers was determined, while a «moderate» need was determined for the other skill fields. Results also showed that there were significant differences in teachers and principals responses due to job in favor of principals, and interaction between job & gender, while no significant differences were determined due to gender, qualification, experience, and stage. A number of recommendations were made to enhance concern about teacher education programs, to organize in-service training activities for teachers, and to carry out future research.
