Abstract:
The is study aimed at designing an instructional software and to study its effect on university students achievements for the concepts of tables and queries in database. To achieve these objectives, instructional software was designed. The sample of the study consisted of 40 students divided into two groups: the experimental and the control groups. The experimental group consisted of 20 students used the instructional software to study the concepts of tables and queries, whereas the control group contained of 20 students studied these concepts in traditional way. A pre and posttest were administered to measure students achievements. The statistical analysis showed that there were significant differences in student’s achievements in query concepts in favour of the group studying using the instructional software. However, there was no significant difference in student’s achievement in the concepts of the tables. The study recommended that more educational software in different subject’s matters should be developed and studied to find out its effect in students learning.
