Abstract:
The study aimed at identifying the status of the management information systems in the Directorates of Education by the heads of departments from their point of view. The study sample consisted of (476) heads of departments in (32) directorates of education in Jordan. To answer the study questions, the researchers developed a questionnaire. It consisted of (32) items that were divided into (5) domains. Validity and reliability of the questionnaire were computed. Means, standard deviation, Pearson’s correlation were used to answer the study questions. The results of the study were as follows: The means for the management information systems which were applied by heads of departments in the directorates of education in Jordan were as follows: information accuracy, information appropriateness, information comprehensiveness, information appropriate timing, and information flexibility. There were statistically significant differences in the status of the management information systems that were attributed to academic qualification in favor of (B.A) Bachelor and Diploma holders. In the light of the results, the researchers recommended that it is necessary to develop the status of management information systems. It is also necessary to apply different styles of communication such as direct speech, holding meetings and using updated instruments.
