The Effect of Using a Program Based on Language Games in Developing Language Structure and Oral Expression Skills of Basic Fourth Grade Students in Jordan

dc.description.abstract This study aimed at investigating the effect of using a program based on language games in developing language structure and oral expression skills basic fourth grade students in Jordan. The researcher selected randomly a public basic school associated to Education Directorate of Irbid First District. The name of selected school is the Omar Al-Mkhttar Basic School for Boys. The researcher selected randomly two classes from the school; one of them was selected to be an experimental group (42 students) and the other as a control group (42 students). The experimental group was taught according to the training program, while the control group was taught according to the common method. The research tools consisted of a training program, the language patterns test, the evaluation criterion of the oral expression performance. The reliability and stability indications for these research tools were extracted. After recording students’ grades on the pre- posttests, the appropriate statistical analysis were used. The study showed the following findings: There is a statistical significance difference between the experimental and control groups in acquiring the language patterns in the favor of experimental group that learned the language patterns by the language games method. The finding also revealed that there was a positive significant correlation between acquiring the language patterns and the oral expression skills at the students. The study reached a collection of recommendations and suggestions. en_US
