Abstract:
The purpose of this study was to investigate the attitudes of Mu’tah students toward the academic counseling process and its relation to their academic adjustment. In addition, it sought to find out if the students’ attitudes varies in accordance with some variables such as gender and college. To achieve the purpose of this study, a questionnaire of students’ attitudes toward the academic counseling and the academic adaptation measure was administrated to a sample consisting of (357) male and female students who were randomly chosen from the various colleges in Mu’tah University during the academic year 2003-2004. The results have indicated that students demonstrated negative attitudes toward the academic counseling, and there were non-significant differences in these attitudes with respect to the variables of gender and college. In addition, the results revealed that there was a significant relationship between both students’ attitudes toward the academic counseling and the academic adaptation. Finally, the results were discussed and some relevant recommendations were formulated accordingly.
