Abstract:
The main objective of this study was to determine the writing difficulties of children and adults beginning learners in Ibb province. Discovery of these difficulties will help in formulating a program in basic schools and centers for eradicating illiteracy to treat these difficulties. The researchers used a valid and reliable questionnaire as a tool for the identification of the writing difficulties for this study. The population of the study consisted of all teachers who teach in the basic schools and centers of eradicating illiteracy. A random sample consisting of (94) teachers was selected from the population. The average and the Kolmogorov Smirnov test were used as the statistical tools in analyzing the data. The result showed that two groups of writing difficulties were identified. The first group included general difficulties that face all learners on different levels of age. The second group included difficulties related to the learners’ maturity that face children more than adults. The researchers recommended that a special program for dealing with these difficulties be adopted.
