Abstract:
The study aimed at investigating the impact of a cognitive training program consisting of stories based on the biography of the prophet on moral development. The sample consisted of 84 first secondary female grade students who were divided randomly into three groups: the first experimental group (conversation and discussion), the second experimental group (self- reading), and the control group (no treatment). A cognitive training program based on the biography stories events of the prophet Mohmmad consisting of (37) training sessions was developed. The program presented stories from the biography events, followed by so many questions and discussion regarding these stories and the lessons that could be learned from each story. The DIT was applied for all three groups before and after the training program. Results showed a significant effect (0.05 = α) for the training program on the moral development scores (P-Score) and its subtests in favor of the first experimental group only. The results also showed a significant effect (0.05 = α) for the training program on developing moral stages of the students in the fourth and fifth stages of moral development, but not to the sixth stage due to the age of the sample.
