Abstract:
The aim of this study was to evaluate the effectiveness of a training
program to reduce the Echolalia of a 9-year-old child with autism using a
Case Study approach, and its impact on improving child’s verbal and non verbal communication. The study used the Echolalia questionnaire and the
communication subscale )from Gilliam Autism Rating Scales( to determine
the scores of the child on each Pre and Post the implement of the training
program, which had )13 activities( distributed )45 sessions(. The results of the
study indicated a considerable decrease in the scores of Echolalia questionnaire.
There was an improvement in the child's ability to communicate verbally and
non-verbally with others. The study raised relevant issues and implications,
and ended with some recommendations for suggested studies.
