Abstract:
This study aims at using Hermeneutics as a critical direction, where the reader’s role
has the greatest authority over the text in investigating the hermeneutic possibilities of the
Bahraini author Abdulqader Aqeel’s novel, ‘Maryam’s Palm’ (Kaff ip Maryam).
This study has emerged from the questions: ‘What is the relationship between ‘Maryam’s
Palm’ and the main idea of the novel i.e. June (1967) War? And how can hermeneutics
help deciphering this ambiguous code of open semantic signs impeded in the text’s key
message in order to find deeper meanings in portraying the experience of existing in life?
