dc.description.abstract The study aimed to identify the effectiveness of (POSSE) strategy in the development of Reading Comprehension skills and retention for fifth graders. The study used a quasi-experimental approach, and to achieve objectives of the study, a list of Reading Comprehension skills was prepared, and Reading Comprehension Skills test and after confirmation of its validity and reliability, it has been applied as pre and posttest and after three weeks of post application to a sample of (76) pupils from the fifth grade pupils of Khanyounis Primary School(A) for boys; distributed to two groups one experimental counted (37) pupils studied by (POSSE) strategy and the second control group studied in the usual way counted (39) pupils. The results of the study showed statistically significant differences at the level of significance (α ≥0.05) in the development of the Reading Comprehension Skills post and delayed test between mean scores of two groups of study in favor of the experimental group, and the effect size was high (0.507), so the study recommended (POSSE) strategy in the programs of training teachers of Arabic language, and encouraging them to employ it in all branches. en_US
