dc.description.abstract |
The purpose of this study was to uncover the factors and causes of disabilities in Abu Dhabi according to the type of disability. The instrument of this study was developed and administered to (241) participating parents .To assure the reliability and content validity of the instrument the instrument was assessed by experts in the field of special education. Additionally, the internal consistency of the instrument was established which assessed the reliability. The internal consistency was appropriate for this study (r=.91). Results of this study revealed that the percentage of the known causes of disabilities is 79.3% where as the percentage of the unknown causes of disabilities is 20.7. Additionally, 50.3% of the reported causes of disabilities were due to prenatal causes. The other most common causes of disabilities in Abu Dhabi include UAE mother’s lower level of education and mother’s age during pregnancy. In addition to that, the relationship between disability and other variables including family, social, and educational factors. Accordingly, some recommendations are included. |
