Psychological Stress among Pregnant Women in the Area of Ramallah – Palestine

Abstract

This study aimed to investigate psychological stress among the pregnant women in the area of Ramallah – Palestine. The researchers used a questionnaire consisting of (43) items which measure stress among pregnant women. The sample of the study consisted of 186 pregnant women from Ramallah West Bank, Palestine. The results revealed that there were 55.6% of the pregnant women had low degree of stress, while there were 44.4% suffer from high levels of stress related to pregnancy. Also the results showed that there were no statistically significant differences due to variables of the study (educational level, are relatives of the husband). However, it revealed the significant differences due to the variables (age at first pregnancy, the duration between marriage and the start of the first pregnancy, number of pregnancies, live with husband).
