Abstract:
The objective of this study is to investigate the predictive ability of the undergraduate admission tests conducted by the Department of Physical Education at Umm Al-Qura University through tracking the correlation between the graduated students’ (G.P.A.) and their earned scores in the admission tests. Correlation coefficients were used and standard multiple regression as well as multiple regression to determine the strongest predictor of the cumulative (G.P.A.) of students. The researcher found a correlation covariant statistically significant between the skill test and (G.P.A.), and between the interview and the test cumulative; while there is no significant relationship between the rest of the tests and the cumulative (G.P.A.) of students. As it turns out that there are two tests for two distinct contributions to predict the cumulative (G.P.A.) which are the interview and the skill test; also, we can predict the level of academic achievement by using any of the three predictive equations, taking into account the predictive ability of each model. Thus, there are flaws in the admission tests that the personal interview is the greatest predictor despite being subjective. The Researcher recommends that the admission tests need to be reviewed in accordance with the department’s goals and desired learning outcomes.
