dc.description.abstract This study aimed at identifying the effect of using portfolio on the eighth grade students' achievement in al-fiqh unit at al- Mafraq. The sample of the study consisted of 110 students (52 males and 58 females). They were assigned randomly into two groups: the experimental group which studied using portfolio, and the control group which was taught using regular instruction. The results of this study showed that there were statistical significant differences between students' mean scores on the achievement test in favor of the experimental group. This means that the experimental group achieved better than the control group. There were also statistical significant differences between students' mean scores related to students' sex in favor of females. The result also showed that there were statistical significant differences in the students achievement in favor of the interaction between the teaching method (portfolio and regular instruction), and gender (males and females). The researcher recommends conducting research on the use of portfolio in teaching and using it in all learning patterns. en_US
