Emotional Intelligence Among Gifted and Talented Students in Special Schools in the Light of Some Demographic Variables

Abstract

The aim of this Study was to identify the level of emotional intelligence and the effect of grade, gender, the interaction of gender & grade, and parents’ work on students’ emotional intelligence. The sample of the study consisted of (350) gifted and talented students at King Abdullah II schools for gifted and talented students. The results revealed that students scored high degrees on the level of emotional intelligence as a whole. While they scored the highest degrees on self-motivation dimension, the students scored the lowest degrees on emotional management dimension. Also, the results revealed that there were significant differences that were attributed to the interaction between gender & grade on the whole degree of emotional intelligence as well as the emotional management and relationship management dimensions. Finally, the results revealed that there were significant differences due to mothers’ work only on the relationship management. However, no significant effect to grade, gender and father’s` work on emotional intelligence or its dimensions was found.
