dc.description.abstract The purpose of this study was to compare the biokinematics variables for various strokes in 100, 200 m at Sidney Olympic Game finalists. It also aimed to examine how these biokinematics variables are affected by summers’ sex. Data were gathered from the document issued by Biomechanics Department of the Australian Institute of Sport which eight finalists in each event for the100m and 200m were analyzed and used in this study. Results indicated that there were statistical differences in all kinematics variables and that the best ranking velocity were for Free, Back, Dolphin, and Brest strokes, respectively. Stroke rate did not differ between strokes for both genders because of the significant of the stroke length. There were similarities between most variables between Breast & Dolphin strokes due to bilateral movement in arm & leg actions. Start time and final time did not affect the differences in all strokes and between races 100m, & 200m for both sex. It was concluded that the stroke length is the best critical kinematics variable to be considered for achieving strokes index. en_US
