Correlation between the Educational Objectives and Psychology Course Goals for High School Psychology Course in Saudi Arabia

dc.description.abstract This aim of the study was to assess the correlation between the educational objectives and the goals of 11th grade psychology course. A checklist was designed and tested for validity and reliability. The checklist was applied through the analysis of teachers prepared lesson plans. The results showed several salient findings. Teachers focus on cognitive and affective objectives with 74% and 26% respectively. On the other hand they do not mention the psychomotor objectives at all. The most frequently stated level objectives in the cognitive domain was comprehension (34%), followed by retention (28%), application (15%), evaluation (10%), analysis (8%), and synthesis (5%). Regarding the affective domain it was found that the most request level of the objectives were at the valuation (60% of the objectives), followed by receiving (22%), the responding (18%). None of the rest levels of this domain was talked. Finally, the correlation coefficient between the educational objectives and the goals of the 11th grade psychology course was found to be 0.82. en_US
