Critical Knowledge and its influence in forming Adonis’s idea “AL-Ketab”

Abstract

This research aims at exploring the critical knowledge that formed the massive literary work which Adonis produced under the title “AL-Ketab”. The research also investigates the influence of the critical knowledge which Adonis possessed in forming the concept of poetry beyond the conventional division of literary genres. Adonis’s critical knowledge was represented tow matter: First, the concept of poetry, where Adonis had his own understanding of poetry which went beyond old concepts. Second, his understanding of critical concepts presented in western literature and in the modern literary theory, such as the concepts of reading, writing, and death of the author. The research shows through that and through Adonis’s critical and theoretical effort the influences and transformations that led to crystallize the idea of “AL-Ketab” and the form in which it was accomplished.
